National Full Contact Karate Championship 2024
Shivaji Ganguly’s Academy Mind and Body is proud to present the National Full Contact Karate Championship 2024, supported by Kyokushinkai India, Martialart India, and All India Full Contact Karate Organisation. Recognized by the World Karate Council Mkyokushin, this national-level tournament will take place on 15th-17th November 2024 in Kolkata, West Bengal. With over 450 participants from 12+ states, the championship promises thrilling displays of skill and sportsmanship. Join us for three days of intense competition and martial arts excellence!
Full Contact Karate Championship – 2023
Mkyokushin Cup (28th West Bengal open full contact karate Championship) will be on 1st October and 2nd Oct 2023 at Harish Park, Kolkata. The tournament will be organised by Shivaji Gaanguly’s Academy Mind and Body. This tournament is supported by Kyokushinkai India, Martial art India, All India Full Contact Karate organization, National Karate Federation and Physical Education Foundation of India. Physical education foundation of India is recognized by Ministry of Youth affairs and sports.
Two Days Instructor Training Camp
Date – 21st Sept. & 22nd Sept “2023”
Two days Instructor training camp will be going to held at Mahakal Pally,Near Surya Sen Park, Siliguri, ward no-10. The camp is organised by Mkyokushin Karate Association of Jalpaiguri under sensei Vikash Singh. The chief Instructor of the camp will be Sensei Shyamantak Ganguly, 3rd Dan Black belt and 3rd place holder in Open World Cup at Hungary.
Open World Cup- Full contact Karate Championship 2023 was organised by Hungarian Full contact karate organization on 30th June and 1st July,2023 at Szolnok, Hungary. In this tournament there were different categories of kata and kumite for children, youth and adult. Participants from over 25 countries participated in the tournament namely Hungary, India, and South
Africa, Croatia, Spain, Croatia, Poland, Romania etc. There were total over 450 participants in the tournament.
For the first time in the history of Indian Full Contact Karate that Mr. Shyamantak Ganguly from Kolkata, West Bengal participated in -80kg category and achieved 3rd place under the coaching of Hanshi Shivaji Ganguly.
In -80kg category Hungary was 1st Place, Romania was 2nd and India was 3rd. The tournament bout was scheduled 3mins rounds and if draw extension of 2mins. The fight happens with bare knuckles and bare body.
In the tournament, there were 32 participants who participated from the various parts of Bengal in the division of two category.
1) Cadet Category – From 16 to 18 years
2) Open Category. (Senior)
The feedback of the tournament was very good as well as the fighting standard was high.

The supreme judge of the tournament was Shihan Shivaji Ganguly who is the president of Kyokushinkai India and the chairman of IKO World So-Kyokushin Indian Branch.
He showed true budoism in his performance, and we salute his spirit.Sensei Sauvik Chakraborty faced his Zimbabwean opponent valiantly. Though the fight was partial from different aspects, Sensei Sauvik fought with will and power. He has proved that class is the impartial, consistent display of integrity. We take this opportunity to congratulate him for his outstanding performance. Sensei Zoe Talukdar Chakraborty had fought like a true warrior against her Japanese opponent in the World tournament but was unfortunate at the end. We should always remember that it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, the most important thing in life is to enjoy what you do. We would also like congratulate Saarthak Agarwal, Anyaa Banerjee and Arunima Ghosh Roy who participated among the young cadets, for their zeal and determination.
REPORT OF 33RD ALL INDIA WINTER CAMP
Training sessions variegated between mild to intensive, sometimes strenuous. At recurrent trainings, mostly three to four times every day, the day started early at 4:30am with the Yoga and breathing exercises, followed by warming up. The mid-morning session started after a very short break. The team headed by black belts, jogged from the hotel gate to the beach which was approximately one kilometer. At the beach the training commenced with staunch and devoted inclination and would generally extend upto two hours. This session was designed with challenges for building up stamina and strengthen.
The third session followed post breakfast, and concentrated on Kihons, Ido Geiko and Kata. The fourth session actualized late afternoon after lunch, and the assemblage went through an arduous training, comprising of stretching exercises followed by shadow kumite. Sand and water training were a regular component of the discipline. The regimes were an inspiration from Sosai Masutatsu Oyama’s uchideshi training. Few of the participants appeared for their Shodan and Nidan, while the camp was in progress. Under the governance of Shihan Shivaji Ganguly, the camp was propitious and prosperous.
The camp regulation and operation was under the expertize of Shihan Shivaji Ganguly (Camp Director), Sensei Shibayan Ganguly (Chairman), Sensei Sauvik Chakraborty (Vice Chairman), Sensei Prabir Mondal (Vice Chairman), Sensei Sudipta Karmakar (Senior Technical Advisor), Sensei M.S Bhakuni (Senior Technical Advisor), Sensei Dipankar Bhattacharya (Camp Convener) and Sensei Uma Prasad Yadav (Camp coordinator).
Then the second session used to start from 11:30 where we practiced mainly katas and ido geiko Our third afternoon session used to start from 3:30 where we mainly focused on kumite techniques. Inter-active Sessions were held in the evenings where both Practical and Theoretical Classes were taken Approx 100 Participants from all age groups participated in this Winter Camp. Our main aim was to inculcate the real Budo spirit in our students through hard training. The camp was organized under the direct supervision of Shihan Shivaji Ganguly, country representative of India. The technical director of the camp was Sensei Shibayan Ganguly. Sensei Prabir Mondal and sensei Sauvik Chakraborty were the chief instructor and coordinator respectively.
